There are references to the Me Too Movement in Londoni Kanai, a harrowing set of narratives around womens suffering in Kokilara, the commodification of women in The Ballad of a Riverine Land, and the brutality of sex trafficking in The Unburnable. Gender equality and patriarchy are feature in several of this years productions. A Season of Bangla Drama is now in it’s 17th year with sixteen drama productions across five venues, and a range of further activities as part of the fringe to make this into a wide-ranging and literally all-singing and all-dancing programme of events with a number of hot topics! The council’s flagship celebration of British-Bengali Theatre is back with another month-long festival to surprise and delight audiences from all backgrounds. ![]()
